Next to the harbor, this breakwater is the extension of the pedestrian street bearing the same name. There is a spectacular view of the Old Town and the harbor and it is a meeting place for fishing lovers.

It was built by engineer Adolfo Guérard in 1899. Acondicionamiento Urbano de la Intendencia de Montevideo (The Urban Conservation Division of Montevideo City Hall) made improvements in 2006.
